Saint John is a city with a lot of hidden gems, and what better way to discover these hidden gems than by going on a guided mountain bike adventure. On the Edge Guided Mountain Bike Tours is a brand new company that Dave Byers started this summer.

Byers gives guided mountain bike tours at Rockwood Park, Irving Nature Park, in Sussex (for those who are more experienced bikers) and even the trails around UNBSJ. Byers does day tours as well as night tours.

Don’t have the equipment? No problem! Byers has up to seven mountain bikes and helmets at no additional cost. All you need is closed toe shoes, athletic wear and a water bottle.

Tours last up to two hours and you can request where and what time of day to do the tour. Each mountain bike tour is $25.00 per person and your fifth tour is free along with your first ‘bad weather’ tour.

My experience mountain biking with Byers and his son, Steve, was more than I could have asked for. Not only did Byers have all of the equipment (bikes and helmets) and give me a mini lesson on how to mountain bike, but he even picked me up from my apartment and dropped me off when the tour was finished. I would give my experience with On the Edge two thumbs up.

“On the Edge is a great way for UNBSJ students to get fit, have fun, and explore the many trails this city has to offer,” Byers expressed. It is particularly good for those students who are new to the city and want a tour of the many nature parks and gorgeous scenery that New Brunswick has to offer.

Byers says, “This is my dream job.” He has 25 years experience biking, all brand new, well-maintained bikes and has built many of the trails at Rockwood himself with the help of friends.

Whether you want to go with one friend or six friends, contact Dave Byers at (506) 645-7387 or e-mail at ontheedgesj@gmail.com and book your tour today. You can also ‘Like’ On the Edge on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/OnTheEdgeSaintJohn.
