On Tuesday, Nov. 4, Tony Lee the XXX-rated hypnotist performed at UNBSJ’s Grand Hall uptown. The event was hosted by the UNB-SRC’s VP Social, Reno Pereira.

The main purpose of the event was to provide students with a stress reliever after midterms.

Tony Lee is a renowned hypnotist, his crude humour and x-rated performances making him a favourite among university and college audiences. Known to make his volunteers perform for imaginary porn scouts, give lap dances, and speak vulgar dialogue, Lee’s shows promise laughter and a (raunchy) good time.

Tony Lee’s background in the art of hypnotizing started by accident, he told the audience that the skill started after he was able to hypnotize his girlfriend. Since discovering his talent, he has been hypnotizing people to provide entertainment for his audiences.

As the show started, Lee warmed up the crowd by providing some information about hypnotization. He stated that if you “daydream in class” or have a “complex imagination” that you would be a prefect candidate to become hypnotized.

Lee then performed a test to see who in the audience was able to become hypnotized. The lights were lowered and soft calming music played in the background. Tony asked for complete quiet and for everyone in the audience to clear their minds to focus on the task that he was asking them to do.

During this process, a few members of the audience became hypnotized. Tony then asked for extra volunteers to join the show.

Once the volunteers were under his “control,” the real entertainment began. Tony had 12 volunteers in total; the show starting with a simulation of the volunteers driving a Lamborghini for the first time. With a series of very interesting events that caused the volunteers to have different reactions, the audience rolling in laughter.

The show was filled with “gasps” and “OMGs,” mainly connected to the more graphic actions that were happening on stage.

The finale started with Tony telling the female volunteers to sit and watch as the male volunteers entered the audience to find a “confident man,” who they would then give a lap dance.

The audience came to their feet excitedly, laughing as random male members of the audience received lap dances from the volunteers.

A student who attended the show described it as hilarious, though a little bit risqué. The individual said that they still enjoyed the performance to the fullest.

Most of the hypnotized volunteers enjoyed their experience on stage and would do it again in a heartbeat. One hypnotized volunteer stated, “I enjoyed being hypnotized and loved the carefree feeling.”

The event was very entertaining and did its job of providing a stress reliever for students following gruelling midterms. Upon leaving Grand Hall, Charlotte Street was filled with laughter and discussion of Tony Lee’s show—it was definitely memorable.
