It was an emotional weekend for players and fans over the weekend at UNB Saint John with wins and losses on the books.

The real win though was that of a great weekend to raise money and awareness for Breast Cancer research. The Student Athlete Advisory council transformed the games into a spectacle that included a raffle draw, bake sale and the main event – President of the SAAC, Emily Dowling, cutting off 8 inches of her hair.

Emily, a fourth year player with the Seawolves made the decision to cut her hair and donate it which will be used to create wigs for those going through cancer treatments and suffering from hair loss as a symptom.

Organizers say a total of $1,630 was raised over the two days – all proceeds being donated to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

The winner of the raffle was Andra O’Brien.

Emily is in her fourth year of Political Science. She loves studying and academics which follows into her research work. She's a stern black coffee drinker and is a proud Acadienne. When she's not working or doing school work, you can find Emily listening to 70s music on vinyl and watching Parks and Recreation. If you ask her about parliamentary institutions, she won't stop talking.
