On Sunday September 20th, the UNB Saint John Seawolves took on the Holland College Hurricanes in women’s soccer.
Within the first 20 minutes of the first half, Holland College Hurricanes, Tessa Fudge scored unassisted.
Although the women didn’t get off to a good start the second half was their half.
The hurricanes had more shots in the first half, 7, than the Seawolves, 4.
“Today’s game we started off well had a few lapses in the first half. After half time we stepped up our game and came back from the 1-0 deficit” says goalkeeper, Marina Comeau of the 3-1-1 Seawolves.
By the second half, the game had changed for the Seawolves with Amelia Haines with an assist from Olivia Vaughan, putting the Seawolves on the board scoring at 49 minutes.
The team showed great defense and managed to keep the Hurricanes off the scoreboard during the second half; the Seawolves had 8 saves, and the Hurricanes with 4 saves in the whole game.
“We held Holland College off well. We finished the game with a 1-1 tie. Which we are all pleased about” says Comeau.
Seawolves soccer continues this Saturday with away games at Crandall University followed by a home games against Saint Thomas University on Sunday the 27th. Start times are 2pm for the women and 4pm for the men on Sunday.
