The Student’s Representative Council (SRC) has unveiled proposed changes to the current SRC’s by-laws.

Students are encouraged to take at this proposals before the vote that will happen Thursday, September 21 at 7:00pm. All changes would go into effect in the 2018-2019 academic year.

Proposed changes include the elimination of council positions: VP Student Affairs, Media Representative, Social Events and Promotions Representative, as well as one representative from each of the faculties of Arts, Business, and SASE. Also included is the addition of a Disability/Accessibility Representative, LGBTQ+ Representative, a Nursing Representative, and a Dalhousie Medical Representative. The Dalhousie Medical Representative would be appointed by their student union.

In the elimination of the VP Student Affairs position, the new by-laws propose that the VP Finance would absorb their duties.

Additionally, the proposed changes include cutting the President’s honorarium from three times the amount of student’s tuition in fees to double the amount of student’s tuition and fees.

Other proposed changes are outlined in the July 11, 2017 meeting minutes found here. The full changed by-laws can be found here.

The vote on these changes will be held Thursday, September 21, 2017 at 7:00 in the SRC office. Students are welcome to attend and provide any input.
