In honour of the late Harriet Irving, the Fredericton campus will be welcoming a new research centre.

The Harriet Irving Research Commons will be on the third floor of the Harriet Irving Library on UNB’s Fredericton campus.

Construction started recently and the centre will open in the fall of 2020.

The new research centre will include a visualization lab, a centre for entrepreneurship, a digital scholarship studio, recording and presentation practice studios, a makerspace, as well as a space specifically for graduate students.

The Research Commons will welcome students and faculty alike to create a space for innovative research and entrepreneurship.

As best said by Paul Mazerolle, president and vice-chancellor of UNB, the Research Commons “will benefit the entire university community and the province.”
