Even though the COVID-19 pandemic has forced the university to close many in-person facilities, the Athletics, Recreation, and Wellness department on campus is still offering opportunities to better your physical and mental wellness.
On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 12:15 – 1 p.m., David Munro is hosting a walk that everyone is welcome to join at any time. Rain days will be Mondays and Fridays.
For those who want a bit more strenuous exercise, Natasha Kelly is offering a hiking program. More details for these can be found on the Fitness and Recreation website.
To ensure that as many programs can be offered as possible with social distancing in mind, there will also be various online programs. The department is also partnering with several internal and community partners such as the Running Room and Simply for Life to provide health programs. To participate in programs such as “Fall in Love with Running” and nutritional programs, visit the site here.
The Fitness Room is still open on-campus with nine cardio machines that can be used from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. To do so, you must book with Sharon Stewart at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Free weights and machine weights are not available. Each machine will be cleaned between uses for your safety.
Though no sports are allowed until at least January, teams are still allowed to train. If you are interested in trying out for a winter sport, you can register with the department at email@example.com.
To help the department service you better this year, there is a survey that you can complete to provide them with feedback. Click this link to submit your responses.
Some activities may be able to take place, such as soccer, outdoor badminton, or flag football. They will proceed only as operational plans get approved that follow sport-specific organization guidelines.
