To celebrate the holiday season, learn about the many events being hosted throughout Saint John in the month of December.

Imperial Theatre shows

Several shows are being hosted at the Imperial Theatre in Uptown Saint John this holiday season.

White Christmas, the musical film from 1954, will be shown on Monday, December 6 at 7 p.m. The tickets for the film are $10.

The Nutcracker presented by Gala Ballet Productions will be held on Friday, December 10 at 7 p.m. The tickets are $24 for students, $35 for adults and $30 for subscribers.

On Sunday, December 12, Christmas at the Pemberly, the holiday production based on “Pride and Prejudice”, will be presented at the theatre. The tickets are $25 for youth, $47.50 for adults and $42.50 for subscribers.

Songwriter and singer Chantal Kreviazuk will be performing her Christmas album “Christmas Is A Way Of Life, My Dear” and other tracks on December 15 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for adults are $47.50 and $42.50 for subscribers.

On December 16, the Cape Breton Island-based family group Barra MacNeil will do a live Christmas concert at 7:30 p.m. The MacNeil siblings’ music is rooted in Celtic music, dance, culture, language and history. Tickets to see the band are $57.50 for adults and $52.50 for subscribers.

The New Brunswick performers duo Tomato/Tomato and guest artists including Ray Legere will perform their new album on December 17 at 7:30 p.m. The charge for adults is $45 and $40 for subscribers.

UNB Saint John events

On Wednesday, December 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Women in Business Society will be hosting a Holiday Market on campus. Although they are accepting vendors for the event free of charge, the market will not have food products.

If a person is interested in being a vendor, they will need to complete this form.

The Phoenix events

The holiday events at The Phoenix will be “The Big Fun Xmas Show” and “Naughty or Nice: A holiday-themed drag show.”

The “Big Fun Xmas” will be on December 10 at 9 p.m. and it will be a holiday dance party. People can buy tickets for the event in advance here or pay $30 at the door. 

The Naughty or Nice drag show will be on December 18 from 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. The performers include Justin Toodeep, Dia Monde, Luna Lafleur, Crusty Aunt, Aluna Eclipse, and more.

To get tickets and seats for the event, people must email Justin Toodeep at jtoodeep@gmail.com or contact them through either Facebook or Instagram. People must make sure to confirm availability with Justin before paying. 

Proof of full vaccination and ID will be required to attend.

BMO Studio Theatre improv event

The Improvisation Corporation will present a holiday comedy event “A Very Mashup Christmas” at the BMO Studio Theatre. The event will be in-person from December 8 to December 10 at 7:30 p.m. It will also be streamed online on December 10 and 11.

People can buy their tickets for the event here. Proof of full vaccination and I.D. are a requirement to attend. 

H.O.P.E Centre event

On December 11, the H.O.P.E. Centre on the east side will host a Christmas craft sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. To attend, people must show proof of full vaccination, wear a mask, and respect social distancing rules. 

If a person is interested in being a vendor for the event, they must call the H.O.P.E. Centre office to book a table at 506-653-6875.

KV Oasis Youth Centre

The KV Oasis Youth Centre in Kennebecasis Valley will have a Christmas Night Market on December 16 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Proof of full vaccination is required.

All the money goes to KV Oasis to help fund their youth programming and outreach. Their Annual General Meeting will also be held this day at 6:30 p.m. for people interested in learning about the centre.

People interested in being a vendor need to email sam.risk@koasis.com. Spaces for vendors are $25 each.
