On Sunday, December 19, UNB sent an email to UNB Saint John students advising of new COVID-19 exposure sites on campus.
They include the following:
- December 14: G. Elliott Forbes Athletics Centre, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
- December 15: Hans W. Klohn Commons, 1 – 3:30 p.m.
- December 6: Baird Dining Hall, 12 – 1:30 p.m. (previously reported)
Health professionals are recommending additional precautions be followed due to the extremely transmissible nature of the newly-identified Omicron variant. These include upgrading masks to n95 respirators, limiting gatherings and outings as much as possible, and using rapid tests frequently, especially before attending a gathering. Information on where to obtain rapid test kits can be found here. In Saint John, the distribution centre is at the Diamond Jubilee Cruise Terminal on Water St., with hours from 1-6 p.m. Monday to Friday (note that this is subject to change with the upcoming holidays).
To keep up to date with community exposure notifications, use this link. If you were at a listed exposure site during the times listed, it is recommended that you take a rapid test, unless you are contacted directly by Public Health to isolate and take a PCR test.
