The mental health event will be held on the second floor of Market Square, and it will last the whole weekend. The event aims to spread awareness of mental health and self-healing.

People can enjoy free tea and coffee and take part in the mental wellness dynamics.

The kick-off opening reception will be Friday, April 1 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event will be open to everyone Saturday, April 2 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, April 3 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“Garden Oasis” is a group effort between the Saint John Arts Centre, Pathways to Education, the Teen Resource Centre, the HOME-RL Research Lab, Kierstead’s Flower Shop Ltd, Third Space Gallery and Willow Youth Project. The idea originated from a youth at the Teen Resource Centre.

Self-care activities

According to a representative of the Teen Resource Centre, the Garden Oasis installation will have signs with questions that encourage people to think about their well-being and people will be able to answer these questions either by writing them on a flower and planting it or by writing it on a tag and putting it on a tree.

By doing this, people can think about the things that make them happy or that they’re grateful for.
