The Global Medical Brigades aims to recruit students for volunteer, fundraisers and, if possible, their volunteering trip to Honduras.
The UNBSJ Global Medical Brigade is a chapter of the Global Brigades non-profit worldwide organization. The co-presidents, Avery Demerchant and Julianne Grace MacCallum, re-started the club during the summer.
Their main event is a volunteering trip to Honduras from April 30 to May 6 of next year, however, they need to raise the funds and get at least 18 volunteers to make it possible.
More details about the trip here.
The organization’s mission is to “facilitate, mobilize and collaborate with communities to achieve their health and economic goals,” according to the website. The chapter at UNB lives by the statement.
The club also is planning their first big event on November 26 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. The event will be at Woodchucks Uptown where students can throw axes and eat pizza. The general fee is $15 includes the admission and free pizza while the full access fee is $30 offers the previous perks plus an hour of axe throwing.
