Upcoming ways to feel festive in Saint John

Tis the season for spending time with loved ones, watching feel-good movies, eating an abundance of delicious food, and taking time to rest – of course this refers to the holiday break that will soon be upon us. Here is a list of festive activities so you can take advantage of the holiday season, here in Saint John.

To begin, the coveted Uptown Sparkles City Market event is back for another season, starting on December 2 at 5PM. This event will include ice sculptures, special lighting, Christmas music, food trucks, a DJ, pop-up vendors, and so many other exciting features happening both inside and outside! The event is also very family-friendly and a great place to catch up with friends.

Interesting in holiday markets? There are plenty of those happening in and around the Saint John area too.

A large holiday market will be taking place at the Qplex in Quispamsis and will be in support of the Heart and Stroke foundation. This will take place on December 4, beginning at 10:30AM. More information can be found here.

Additionally, there will be a Craft NB Christmas Festival on the same weekend from December 2-4 happening at Marco Polo Cruise Terminal in Saint John. Many great local markets to help you if you are shopping for holiday gifts or even for yourself! More information on the Craft NB Festival here.

This event is less Christmas focused but is certain to be a lot of fun, especially for music fans! The Five and Dime are hosting a John Lennon Tribute event on December 8 at 9PM. On December 9 and December 10, the Imperial Theatre will be hosting an incredible performance by Gala Ballet Productions of the classic holiday Ballet, The Nutcracker. It will feature music by Pyotr Illyich Tchaikovsky.

The Imperial are also hosting a festive evening of music on December 15 at 7:30PM. The Mike Biggar’s Songs of the Season show will feature Jessica Rhaye and Friends, Grant Heckman, Sandy Mackay, & Bill Preeper. It is sure to be an amazing night with your favourite, live holiday music!

Interested in more live music? Pepper’s Pub will be hosting Slowcoaster Xmas show on December 17 at 11PM. The East Coast legends will be playing two full sets and is sure to be a wonderful night!
