Hello UNB Saint John!

I am so excited to welcome you all back for another year.

If this is your first year at UNB Saint John, I am happy to introduce you to the Baron! We are UNB Saint John’s independent student press and we are here to share student stories, concerns, and voices. We are fully funded by student fees, run by student staff, and we write for ALL students! If there is ever a topic you wish to see discussed, you can reach us by email (editor@thebaron.ca), through our social media (@unbsj.thebaron), or stop by our office located on the second floor of the Thomas J. Condon Student Centre.

At the Baron we have some exciting new developments! We are welcoming three new staff writers: Meghan MacKinnon, Madison Cullinan, and Himanshu Sharma! We are also welcoming a new office manager, Philippa David; a new photographer, Samridhi Girdhar; and a new copy editor, Sarah Harrigan. Sarah joined the Baron as a staff writer and impressed us all with her articles on topics such as Building the Wug Universe and Saints Rest: A Saint John Story.

We are also welcoming Tam Nguyen as the Baron’s first ever social media manager! Tam will be monitoring and creating content for our Instagram and TikTok accounts. If you spot her walking around campus with a mini mic, make sure to seize the opportunity for sharing your thoughts and opinions!

As announced last year, the Baron will be publishing two physical prints a semester! Our first will be out in mid-October and our second will be out before exams in December. Thank you all so much for your continued support and enthusiasm about our prints!

We will be hosting another Breakfast with the Baron event this semester, so keep your eye on our social media for more details soon!
