Seawolves stumble battling the Mount

On Jan. 25, Mount Allison and UNB Saint John squared faced off in ACAA men’s basketball action. The Seawolves looked to make up ground in the hunt for a playoff spot, but the Mounties put a dent in those plans, handing UNB Saint John a 90-63 loss.

The first quarter saw the Mounties jump out to the early lead. UNB Saint John kept it close, but trailed 26-17 at the end of the quarter.

The Seawolves would continue to fall behind during the second quarter. Mount Allison would put up another 19 points, and took a 45-28 lead into halftime.

Looking to get back in the game, the Seawolves came alive during the third quarter. UNB Saint John went on a big run late in the quarter and pulled to within eight points, trailing the Mounties 63-55.

The Seawolves would try and keep the momentum going to start the fourth quarter. However, the Mounties would recover from their stumble during the third quarter, returning to their first half form and taking the victory by a score of 90-63.

Ryan Foster led the Seawolves with 21 points while Jarred Crawford had 18 points and Nick Huggard chipped in with 11 points.

Brad Fuller had a big game for Mount Allison, leading the charge with a game-high 24 points. Kaleefah Henry added 15 points and Alex Chisholm had 14 points. Adam Spurrell had 15 rebounds for the Mounties.

The Mounties moved into fourth place with a 7-5, while the Seawolves remain in sixth place with a 3-9 record.
