Welcome back UNB Saint John! Now that the break is over and school is starting again, you might be feeling less than enthusiastic about the long winter semester ahead. Luckily, the UNB Students’ Representative Council has the perfect remedy for those winter blues to help you start your semester off with a bang.

From January 6th to 9th, the SRC has planned a Winter Orientation Welcome Week to give students both important orientation information and opportunities to relax and catch up with friends.

Tuesday

The activities begin today, with Karaoke and Crafts in the Whitebone Pizzeria. This event, hosted by the SRC and the Women in Business Society, will take place from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Wednesday

On the 7th, the important Government of Canada Social Insurance Number Clinic will occur from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in 126 Dunstan Study Room of the Hans W. Klohn Commons. This clinic is an opportunity for students to get their social insurance numbers quickly and securely.  

Also in the Commons, there will be a Clubs and Societies Expo from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This exposition is a great chance for new and returning students to make connections, discover new interests, and learn about the clubs and societies that will be organizing events throughout the semester.  

Wednesday night, the SRC and the African Caribbean Society will be hosting a game night in the Whitebone Pizzeria from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. This event also comes with a chance to win a Smart Speaker (Amazon Echo)! 

Thursday

Thursday begins at 9:30 a.m. with Immigration Advising Drop-In for international students. This session will take place in the Commons’ 126 Dunstan Study Room, until 11 a.m.  

From 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., there will be a Services for Students Expo. Come to this event in the Commons for lunch, snacks, prizes, and more! 

In the afternoon, from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., you can meet members of the International Student Advising Office in the Commons.  

Finally, Thursday concludes with the Vision Board Making and DIY Mason Jar Cocoa activity in the Whitebone Pizzeria. This event, hosted by the SRC and the Green Society, will take place between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.  

Friday

On Friday, end your week with DIY Snow Globe Making with the SRC and the Global Society, in the Whitebone Pizzeria, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. 

Finally, have a relaxing Friday night by attending a screening of “The Great Gatsby” in the Hazen Hall Lecture Theatre. The movie will run from 8:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., and there will be free popcorn.

If you can’t make all the events, that’s okay, but try to attend the Karaoke and Crafts, Game Night, Vision Board and DIY Mason Jar Cocoa, DIY Snow Globe Making, and movie night activities to receive five raffle tickets towards a Smart TV or AirPods!
