It’s that time of year again, welcome to Frosh week! Your Student Representative Council has planned a jam-packed week of activities to start your year off right. Don’t crack a textbook open before you check these events out!

Monday, Sept. 3: “Relax before it’s too late”

Monday will be low-key to ease you into the week. Come to the quad from 2 p.m. – 6 p.m. to play washer toss, Frisbee golf, or other games that will be set up. In the evening, grab dinner in front of Hazen Hall lecture theatre from 6 p.m. – 7 p.m. and stay for a movie; it starts at 7 p.m.!

Tuesday, Sept. 4: “Super Tuesday” & Amazing Race

Frosh week will really get going on Tuesday with the ever-popular kick-off event! Super Tuesday is a chance for you to get to know the campus layout, meet some faculty, find out more about your program and make some new friends. The SRC will  give out tons of prizes during the day, as well as treat you to lunch. You’ll have the perfect opportunity to see all of campus by participating in the Amazing Race from 4 p.m.- 8 p.m. so grab a partner and join in!

Wednesday, Sept. 5: Shine day! & Game Show Night

UNBSJ has had a tradition for the past 44 years of participating in Shinerama, which we hope to keep strong this year. If you’re not familiar with Shinerama, it is Canada’s largest post-secondary fundraiser, raising funds for Cystic Fibrosis research. To date, university students have helped raise over $21.5 million for this cause. This year, there will be two cruise ships in town, so we will be targeting the uptown area in hopes of upping the ante and raising as much as we can! Get involved and show off Saint John to cruise ship visitors by giving a guided walk of uptown, joining a loyalist photo-op, helping with a BBQ, face painting, Henna tattoos, and much more! In the evening, you’ll have another chance to win great prizes by coming to Game Show night (location TBA)!

Thursday, Sept. 6: First day of classes & Athletic Orientation

Take a break from thinking about your first day of classes, and check out various activities run by the athletics department in the gym and the stadium between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. More info TBA soon!

Friday, Sept. 7: Casino Night

Come test your poker or blackjack skills at Casino Night–held in the Baird Dining Hall from 7 p.m. – 11 p.m.

Saturday, Sept. 8: Extreme Saturday! Paintball/Treego & Football game

Don’t get too crazy on Friday night because you’ll want to catch the bus to paintball at 8:15 a.m. on Saturday morning. The bus will be returning to campus around 2 p.m., with lots of time to clean up for Saturday night. If paintballing isn’t your thing, why not hop on a bus at 8:30 a.m. to ZIPLINE at Treego? The bus will be returning from Moncton at 4 p.m., just in time for the Seawolves Football game at 5 p.m. Admission is free to all first-year students and volunteers, so come show your support to our boys as they take on Holland College.

Sunday, Sept. 9: Whatever you want to call it!

Try to recover from your insane week. The first full week of classes is coming soon!

***All events are free to first-year students, so come out and have a great time!

When she's not working or doing school work, you can find Emily listening to 70s music on vinyl and watching Parks and Recreation. If you ask her about parliamentary institutions, she won't stop talking.
