Suit up boys and girls; Cruise Saint John is celebrating a quarter-century of cruise in style with Revel at the Lido. This Great Gatsby-themed party is going to be the cat’s meow and frankly it’s an excuse to don your favourite vintage duds.

Revel at the Lido is taking place on Friday, Oct. 25 from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at the brand new Diamond Jubilee Cruise Terminal. Guests are encouraged to dress up in Gatsby-inspired glamour, whether it be a flapper dress or a sleek 1920s gangster suit, but costumes are not necessary.

The Diamond Jubilee Cruise Terminal will be converted into a cruise ship for one evening only, with a casino and a mini-mall as well as jazz-era decorations and live entertainment. The terminal’s glass pedway provides a perfect view of the cityscape, as well as a close up of the final cruise ship of the season. Guests are able to peruse the promenade and toast farewell to Oceania Cruises’ Regatta as it departs.

Downstairs there will be beverages, food and of course, dancing. Sip a cocktail and enjoy some jazz-era entertainment before wandering upstairs, which promises a good time. Decked out with a casino and mini-mall featuring local businesses, the top floor of the cruise terminal is sure to delight.

The promenade deck, or mini-mall, features Uptown businesses Je Suis Prest Boutique, Exchange on Germain and Liquid Gold, among others.

Hilary Paige Smith, a member of Revel at the Lido’s event committee stated the following pertaining to student interest: “I know when you’re a student you’re on a budget and when you go out you sort of want to make sure you have the whole package. You know, drinks, food, entertainment.” She assures students that the event covers all the bases and is a reasonable price for students looking for a fun night on the town.

Tickets run for $60 and include the following: two drinks (alcoholic or non-alcoholic), cupcakes from Piece O’Cake Custom Creations, catering from Decimal 81, music from WTFunk and Tomato Tomato, a tugboat display, $10,000 in casino play money which can be used to win prizes from local Uptown businesses and free admission to the after-party at the Canterbury Lounge. Oh, and of course it gets you into the party!

But the party doesn’t stop there; passengers can venture over to the Canterbury Lounge for an after-party that’d put Jay Gatsby to shame.
