Seawolves fall flat against Mystics

The UNB Saint John Seawolves and the Mount Saint Vincent University Mystics squared off in men’s basketball action on Jan. 11. The Seawolves, who were searching for the first victory of the new term, met some stiff competition in the Mystics and ultimately fell, 93-50.

The first quarter was back and forth action between both squads. The Mystics though, would claim the quarter, up 25-14 at the buzzer. MSVU would continue to pour it on in the second and the Seawolves could only watch as the Mystics increased their lead, as MSVU took a 52-29 lead into half time.

The third and fourth quarters were much of the same for UNB Saint John. MSVU continued their dominant play through both quarters, adding another 41 points to their tally and winning easily by score of 93-50.

The Mystics had 10 players with at least five points in the game and were led by Arnar Bjornsson with 13 points. Andrew McKinnon and Mac Ellis each chipped in with 12 points.

Ryan Foster had 12 points for the Seawolves while Nick Huggard and Ryan Ramier both contributed with nine.

The Mystics raised their record to 6-3, while the Seawolves dropped to 2-6.
