On Thursday, Oct. 17, Shine Leader Gill Kazevman, third year Health Science student at UNBSJ, hosted an Arcade Night to raise money for Shinerama Saint John’s Campaign.

The event was held in Howler’s Student Lounge from 6:30 p.m., until roughly 9 p.m. Entrance was free and guests were invited to pay 50 cents to play or play 5 games for $2.

Games included: Mario Kart, FIFA and Guitar Hero to name a few.

With between 10-15 students in attendance, Kazevman was pleased with the turnout and says, “We knew there wouldn’t be too many people but every dollar counts towards raising money to put an end to Cystic Fibrosis.”

Cystic fibrosis (CF) is the most common fatal genetic disease that affects Canadian children and young adults (mostly in the lungs) and unfortunately has no cure.

Kazevman plans to organize these types of events on a monthly basis to continue to help spread awareness and raise money for the cause.

Jessica Harrison- Brown, Shinerama Coordinator, says that, “any money raised is good money.” Kazevman also expresses his gratitude that their co-coordinator keeps things very transparent and allows them to take on tasks such as small events like these.
