Women’s Basketball double-header ends in defeat

In women’s ACAA basketball action, the Holland College Hurricanes defeated the UNBSJ Seawolves 78-56 in the first game of the weekend double header.

The Seawolves pressed hard throughout the game, keeping the score close but trailing enough for the game to get away from them.

The game would improve the Hurricanes record moving in to a second game on Saturday.

Marvia Dean had 17 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Hurricanes. Jazlin Barker added 13 points while Ashley Moss led all rebounders with 21.

Christie Van Steeg led the Seawolves with 19 points and 10 rebounds.

Saturday saw another fighting effort on behalf of the Seawolves as they battled the Hurricanes again for the second time on the weekend.

The Hurricanes swept the weekend and improved their record to 9-3 after an 86-60 win over the Seawolves.

Jazlin Barker had 17 points and Marvia Dean contributed 16 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Hurricanes.

Christie Van Steeg had a big game for the Seawolves with 25 points.

The Wolves fell to 1-8 in the standings.
