CJ, who lives with Cystic Fibrosis, helps kick off the Shine Day in Market Square.

UNB Saint John’s 49th annual shine day took place today, with student fundraisers beating their target and raising $4,473 for the Shinerama campaign which supports cystic fibrosis research in Canada.

The event saw over 170 student volunteers and leaders from UNB Saint John descend on market square, setting up camp and fanning out across uptown, soliciting donations from locals and visitors.

Shine Day is the main fundraiser in the annual Shinerama campaign, with student groups across the country raising money in various fundraisers.

Shinerama Saint John still has more fundraising events planned this year with the next event being “Volley-Pong” at the boardwalk beach volleyball courts on September 24th.

More information about Shine Day and Shinerama can be found at www.shinesj.ca.
